An American in Australia
Australia is an English-speaking country, but some things are different from the U.S. I have to listen carefully, especially to children, because I am not used to the Australian accent yet. There are signs along the street that say "P1/4" or "P2." Someone explained that "P" means "parking" and the numbers are the hours I can park. At the store, I bought some delicious-looking bread, but I didn't check the label. It was very heavy and didn't have much taste. Then I looked at the label. It said "Hot Bread, Ready in 18 minutes." I had to bake it 18 minutes before I could eat it!

From Seaview Downs, Australia

Ohayo gozaimasu.
I hope your semester is going well. We have another 40 degree day here today. The children go out to play in the morning but must play inside in the afternoon break.
We are now in our second week of school for the year, the children are all settling into their new classes and getting to know their new teachers.
